Overview
Automotive Dealership Controller opportunity in the greater Hampton / Newport News area. This is a rare, executive-level role guiding a seasoned accounting team, implementing best practices, and providing financial insights to shape long-term profitability and growth. Prior experience as an Automotive Controller or Office Manager is preferred; CFO or Senior Accountant experience within a dealership setting will also be considered. This position offers a salary range of $125,000 - $165,000+ per year dependent on experience, and is full-time. All applications are confidential. Benefits

Oversee all dealership accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger Prepare and analyze consolidated and store-level financial statements, manufacturer reports, and monthly closing packages Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, coordinating audits and tax filings Monitor cash flow, manage assets and liabilities, and safeguard company resources Collaborate with Dealer Principal, General Manager, and Department Heads on budgets, forecasting, and profitability goals Strengthen internal controls and best practices to ensure accuracy and efficiency Lead, train, and develop accounting staff while maintaining a culture of accountability and growth Partner with external auditors, CPAs, and OEM representatives Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making Qualifications – Controller
3+ years of proven experience as a Controller or Office Manager in the automotive field or related industry CFO or Senior Accountant within a dealership setting will also be considered Advanced knowledge of GAAP, dealership accounting standards, and financial reporting Proficiency with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or Dealertrack Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to oversee accounting operations across several rooftops Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results High integrity and confidentiality in managing financial data Valid driver's license Candidate must pass pre-employment screening We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
