This position functions within the Human Resources Department. We are looking for an individual with an understanding of HR basics and is excited about taking on all aspects of HR, as well as supporting other operational departments as needed. This position is also very customer care oriented. This person will work independently while reporting to the Vice President of HR. Responsibilities
Maintain personnel files and human resources information system records in compliance with applicable legal requirements. Prepare paperwork required to place employee on payroll and establish personnel file. Responsible for onboarding/off boarding of employees both administration and processing. Responsible for administration and processing aspects including, but not limited to: Verify I-9 documentation/E-verify and maintain compliance. LOA/FMLA administration Reference checks if needed Drug Test/ Background checks/ Employment Verification Benefits administration/Process Life Events Bill reconciliations Unemployment claims Worker’s Compensation 401k administration Audits of HR files/procedures Filing of annual reports (5500, EEO-1, etc.) Update HR spreadsheets. Perform customer service functions by being a point of contact and answer employees’ queries. Assist with the preparation and tracking of the performance review forms. Assist with various research projects, special projects, and/or ad hoc reporting as needed. Follow up with employees to keep Driver License and Car Insurance documents up to date. Compile bi-weekly new hire and termination status update emails Complete employment verifications Ensures all work maintains compliance with rules and regulations. Review, interpret, and recommend changes in processes and policies. Update and audit HR policies/processes/forms/checklists as needed. Process documentation relating to personnel activities (personnel action forms, address changes, etc.) International Vendor Management including resource onboarding and off boarding, including rate negotiation. Manage the San Francisco Ordnance on benefits SME/POC for annual Open Enrollment. Assists HR Supervisor with various research projects, special projects, and/or ad hoc reporting as needed. General Employee Relations tasks and projects as assigned. Trained as a backup for Payroll including: Payroll timesheets follow up Assist with and back up Operations Department administrative duties if needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel and Microsoft Word software. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Ability to run reports, review and analysis for accuracy and data integrity Ability to operate most standard office equipment. Must be able to work in a fast paced, fluid work environment. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills. Excellent telephone and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be able to work independently and exercise discretion. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field required. 1 to 3 years of experience in a Human Resources. Experience in the recruiting/consulting industry a plus.
