Overview

The Service Line Financial Analyst supports financial planning, performance monitoring, and operational decision-making for defined clinical service lines at UI Health Care. Working under the guidance of the Senior Financial Analyst and clinical leadership, this position assists with developing reports, building financial models, and analyzing trends to inform strategy and improve financial performance. The analyst contributes to service line financial reviews using Strata Decision Technology and helps prepare profit and loss statements, highlighting key financial strengths and opportunities for improvement. Position Responsibilities

Financial Oversight and Budgeting: Assist with forecasting and monitoring financial performance for assigned service lines. Support clinical leadership in tracking annual goals aligned with strategic priorities. Compile and verify data inputs used in goal tracking and continuous improvement modules. Identify key revenue and cost trends for review by senior analysts and management. Financial Reporting

Assist with developing and formatting quarterly P&L statements in Strata. Prepare summary tables and visualizations of volume, charge, revenue, and margin trends. Ensure accuracy of reporting inputs by reconciling data from multiple sources. Support presentation development for varied audiences, including physicians and administrators. Financial Analysis and Planning

Support service line profitability and variance analyses by gathering and cleaning data. Assist with proforma development for new programs, provider recruitment, and capital requests. Contribute to business case modeling and scenario planning efforts. Research and compile background data on market and payer trends to support decision-making. Respond to ad hoc data requests from clinical and financial leadership. Compliance with Policies, Regulations, and Laws, and Operational Oversight

Assist with preparation of documentation for audits or external submissions. Ensure adherence to established reporting standards and institutional policies. Support implementation of financial best practices identified by senior analysts. Transaction Processing

Review and verify routine financial entries for completeness and accuracy. Assist with variance explanations and collaborate with operational teams to resolve issues. Leadership and Training

Participate in periodic service line meetings to observe and learn financial discussions. Assist with preparing meeting materials and follow-up documentation. Contribute to knowledge sharing and process documentation within the analytics team. Accounting

Knowledge of and the ability to use the methods, processes, and tools for maintaining and preparing financial statements and reports. Applies cost accounting principles using Strata to support accurate service line reporting and margin analysis. Financial Analysis

Knowledge of and ability to read, interpret, and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material. Assists with evaluating service line performance, preparing variance explanations, and supporting data-driven decision-making for operational and strategic planning. Responds to basic ad hoc analytic requests with guidance from senior analysts or leadership. Financial Reporting

Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools for creating and maintaining accurate and thorough financial reports. Assists in preparing and formatting reports in Strata, including P&Ls, KPIs, and productivity dashboards, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data presentation. Decision Making and Critical Thinking

Applies analytical thinking to interpret financial data and identify preliminary trends. Assists with evaluating financial risks and potential impacts of proposed initiatives. Uses data-driven insights under direction to support financial strategies and operational improvements. Financial Forecasting and Modeling

Assists with applying forecasting models to hospital and physician financial performance. Supports the identification of common forecasting challenges and helps gather data for scenario modeling and cost forecasting using Strata Decision Support tools. Learns to interpret forecasting results to inform planning discussions. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, health science, computer science, math, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required. 1 year of related experience in financial analysis Experience creating and presenting financial reports to a broad audience. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate financial concepts clearly. Familiarity with Excel or financial analysis tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Desired Qualifications

Experience with cost accounting systems, such as Strata. Experience supporting clinical service lines or physician practices. Experience with provider compensation, KPI reporting, or recruitment proforma development. Understanding of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding. Knowledge of EPIC, Power BI, or Tableau. Knowledge of UI and UI Health Care policies and procedures. Application Process
