Billing Manager
to join its Accounting Department. The firm represents clients nationwide in a wide range of practice areas including insurance, commercial litigation, construction, employment, and appellate advocacy.

Position Overview The
Billing Manager
will oversee all aspects of the firm’s billing operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant invoicing across multiple practice areas. This role manages the billing team, collaborates with attorneys, and liaises with clients to resolve billing issues and optimize processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong law firm experience, advanced Excel proficiency, and expertise in e-billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full billing cycle for all firm timekeepers, ensuring timely and accurate invoice preparation and submission.
Supervise and support the billing team, providing training, leadership, and performance feedback.
Review and approve pre-bills and final invoices for compliance with client billing guidelines.
Coordinate with attorneys to address billing discrepancies, adjustments, and client-specific requests.
Maintain and track monthly and quarterly billing schedules to meet all deadlines.
Manage e-billing systems, ensuring successful uploads, troubleshooting rejections, and maintaining matter setups.
Collaborate with the collections team to ensure timely payments and optimal cash flow.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance billing efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting, Finance, Business Administration , or related field preferred.
Minimum
5 years of law firm billing experience , including
2+ years in a supervisory or management role .
Proficiency with
legal billing software
(e.g., Aderant, Rippe, or similar).
Experience with
e-billing systems and client portals ; familiarity with
BillBlast
is a plus.
Strong
Excel skills
including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
In-depth knowledge of law firm billing compliance and timekeeping practices.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and discretion in a fast-paced environment.
