Overview

Development Coordinator, College of Health Professions and School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). This role supports fund development and alumni relations by handling administrative, logistical, operational, and technical tasks for designated colleges, schools, and units. The Development Coordinator serves as the central point of contact for constituent inquiries and coordinates resources for the School of Dentistry and College of Health Professions fundraising teams. Provide support for administrative needs, including managing calendars, planning travel and donor visit itineraries, conducting preliminary research, drafting letters and briefs, maintaining Excel documentation, providing fiscal/budget support, and project management. Provide timely travel, purchasing, and reimbursement assistance for fundraising staff. Coordinate, implement, and track donor acknowledgement processes by drafting personal letters and other correspondence; inform the major gift officer and others as appropriate. Assist with planning and execution of events that support fundraising and stewardship for designated CSUs (e.g., group dinners, alumni events). Enter development actions with donors into VCU’s donor database. Support donor relations and data integrity by updating contact information and biographical records; assist with donor gift data as needed. Assist with donor relations and stewardship projects, including creating and tracking university gift agreements and correspondence for endowment donors and members of giving societies. Assist in assembling development proposals for prospective donors. Serve as initial point of contact for the office; escalate issues as needed and maintain confidentiality for sensitive matters. Think strategically, anticipate actions, and provide independent support materials. Take and share meeting minutes; draft development team meeting agendas; participate in trainings and share information with the team. Collaborate as an active team member on projects requiring cross-functional teamwork; anticipate project needs and manage priorities within budget and deadlines. Qualifications

Undergraduate degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience in a fast-paced, complex environment. Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Google Suite. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong time management, prioritization, and multi-project handling abilities. Ability to manage budgets and project plans. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication, with ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally. High level of customer service with effective communication to internal and external audiences. Ability to navigate complex environments with multiple stakeholders and willingness to seek help when needed. Motivation by mission-driven work. Commitment to fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility among a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with scheduling and calendar management, specifically Google Calendar. Experience managing travel reimbursements and knowledge of procurement policies and procedures. Experience facilitating stewardship and donor relations initiatives. Experience planning and executing events. Experience in a non-profit organization and/or university advancement.
