$80,000+ 9-month contract, Full-Time, Exempt
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Purpose of Position The Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for a 9-month, tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Anticipated start date for this position is August 16, 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Teaching various aviation courses (3/3 course load equivalent for Assistant Professors) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Teaching various aviation graduate courses to include safety, research design, flight courses and human factors.
Graduate faculty members serve on graduate student master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation committees.
Maintain at least a 20% research load working toward externally funded grants in an aviation discipline.
Advising students on academic and career aspirations.
Serving on departmental, college and university committees, as assigned.
Supervising graduate students conducting scholarly activities.
Required Competencies
Ability to teach and develop a broad array of aviation courses at the graduate level.
May also teach and develop undergraduate aviation courses as needed by the Department.
Ability to conduct quality academic research.
Competent in using scholarly tools such as “R.”
Minimum Requirements
Ph.D., Ed.D. or J.D. degree.
The terminal degree must be in aviation or closely related field.
5 years of professional aviation experience.
Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
FAA Pilot and Flight Instructor certifications.
Published research.
