Job Summary
SQL Database Administrator
Texas Health and Human Services, Austin, TX. Must work onsite three days per week near the Texas Triangle. Selected candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Pay Range Texas Health and Human Services provides a pay range based on skills and experience. Base pay: $89,301.33 – $114,816.00. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience – discuss with recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
Install, migrate, and configure database software, ensuring appropriate testing and validation.
Provide production, development, and test environment support, including troubleshooting performance issues.
Develop and modify database structures, perform logical and physical data modeling.
Perform database design, migration, and deployment of DML/DLL scripts.
Monitor applications for uptime and resolve errors.
Maintain database backup and recovery infrastructure, including disaster recovery plans.
Support high availability, tuning, monitoring, and security for SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB databases.
Provide technical guidance to developers and operational staff on database integrity and security.
Report on database operating issues and provide resolution summary.
Contribute to agency data processing plans, budgets, and management reporting.
Participate in disaster response and continuity of operations as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Microsoft Azure.
Advanced skill with SQL Server administration, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Experience with PostgreSQL database administration, tuning, and security.
Experience with MongoDB administration, replication, sharding, and enterprise‑level deployments.
Knowledge of cloud database management, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
Certification in MongoDB or PostgreSQL preferred.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain database integrity, performance, and security across multiple platforms.
Coordinate application and database operations triage support.
Develop and maintain database documentation.
Provide management‑level reporting on database status.
