Mgr, Produce & Floral
Job Purpose
Manages the daily operations of produce and floral departments. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs, mindful of merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Supervises, trains, and develops team members on performance of their job and provides coaching as needed. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team. This is a working management position that requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building and leadership, planning, and administrative work.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the produce and floral department operations to ensure customer service, product freshness, and compliance with company standards.
Merchandise according to department plans, manage stock levels, and monitor shrink and sales trends.
Supervise, train, and develop department staff; provide coaching as needed.
Key Performance Indicators
Department OSAT:
Gauges the customer experience in areas such as assortment, cleanliness, freshness, staff friendliness, and stock availability.
Sales to Purchase %:
Forecasts accurately and orders as needed to maintain department profitability.
Production Planning Compliance %:
Provides information to optimize data extraction and drive strong sales.
Essential Responsibilities
Service
Create an inviting environment, ensure merchandise per plan, maintain shelf availability and quality, train associates on freshness and inventory, assist customers, and fulfill requests.
Leadership
Promote teamwork, set merchandising and sales goals, hire and manage performance, and ensure high levels of customer service during peak hours. Role is the subject matter expert for produce and flower; manage schedules accordingly.
Financial
Complete administrative tasks, monitor inventory and pricing, perform inventory processes, use planning tools to optimize production, and minimize shrink. Ensure proper temperatures and temperature logs; merchandise to maximize sales.
Compliance/Safety
Maintain safety, food handling, sanitation, and regulatory compliance (USDA, COOL, DOA). Execute recalls, enforce safety programs, report hazards, accidents, and risks, and ensure wage-hour compliance. Promote a safety-focused culture and ensure PPE and equipment readiness.

Qualifications
Education Required: High School / GED. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
Language English required; Spanish preferred.
Experience 3 - 6 years minimum supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be 18+, authorized or able to work in the U.S., pass pre-employment drug testing and background check; strong customer service and interpersonal skills; basic math; ability to handle stress; proficiency with department software; food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
Environmental Factors
Retail - Produce: physical demands, safety considerations, equipment, and potential exposure to varying conditions. Includes lifting, standing, and working in indoor/outdoor environments.
Travel and Shifts
Occasional travel; varied shifts including 3-4 evening shifts per week.
