This postdoctoral position is dedicated to studying autophagy functions in glia for breast cancer brain metastasis. The Wang laboratory also focuses on the functions and mechanisms of selective autophagy and lipid metabolisms in neural stem cells, microglia, and astrocytes. The lab developed novel genetically engineered mouse models to study roles of autophagy genes in brain development and in progression of breast cancer brain metastasis. We use techniques including single cell RNA-seq, single nuclei RNA-seq, single cell lineage tracing, human iPSC-derived cerebral organoids, chemogenetics, CLARITY, patch clamp, super-resolution imaging, metabolic/molecular/cellular approaches to study autophagy in human developmental disorders and breast cancer brain metastasis.
Required Education Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
Preferred Experience At least one year of experience in neuroscience research, cell and molecular biology, or cancer biology.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Experience in neural stem cell, cancer biology, signal transduction, metabolism, autophagy, glia cells, organoids, and genetic mouse models.
Experience in scRNAseq and snRNAseq is ideal.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work and collaborate effectively with students, faculty and staff from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
