The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing and auditing the hotel’s daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy of guest accounts, and providing exceptional overnight guest service. This role serves as the primary point of contact for guests during overnight hours, maintaining the security and smooth operation of the property while preparing reports for management. Responsibilities

Maintain a personal demeanor that is friendly, cheerful and courteous at all times. Ensure that all guests feel welcomed to the property. Register guests and assign rooms. Conduct check-out processes. Ensure guest satisfaction by responding to guest inquiries with accurate information and a positive attitude. Respond to phone calls, and retrieve guest mail, faxes and packages. Welcome and effectively resolve guest questions, issues and complaints with supervisor assistance as needed. Provide constant and consistent communication with other departments and supervisors/managers to ensure guest satisfaction. Handle cash, credit card, currency conversions and other financial transactions. Post charges such as room, food, liquor or telephone to ledger. Compute or adjust bill, collect payment, and make change for guests. Balance and compile all Front Office cashier work, F&B and other outlets to system summary reports and resolves any discrepancies. Balance credit cards to the posting location summaries and cashier reports. Communicate discrepancies in cashiers’ work to Assistant Controller and Director of Finance daily. Perform the required system back-ups during the night audit shift to ensure a current back-up of the hotel files is available. Balance credit cards, obtain all approvals and transmit credit cards nightly. This applies to Hotel, F&B, and other outlets. Note all credits to the credit card and forward comments to the assistant controller. Print and distribute, as appropriate, all end-of-day reports. Ensure all guest accounts are accurately posted with room and tax. Balance telephone revenue postings between call accounting system and the PMS. Verify all systems cross-balance with regard to room charges and control totals. Verify all taxes are posted and calculated correctly. Ensure the completion of all PMS night audit functions. Be competent in the technical skills required to update the front office system, such as closing the day and rolling the date. Complete and required backup for the Property Management System. Prepares and distributes the Daily Business Summary in time for managers’ AM arrival. Responsible for reporting all product/service defects and measuring process attributes as applicable. Maintain and file the night audit checklist daily. Assist with other projects as requested by Director of Front Office Operations. Work closely with our security team to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED Basic computer skills Must be able to read, communicate effectively and have superb interpersonal skills Must be able to work well under pressure while retaining tact and composure when resolving guest complaints Work experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry Communication in other languages is helpful Source: Hospitality Online
