Database Engineer with Security Clearance Seeking a highly qualified Database Engineer to join a mission-focused team that maintains applications, services, microservices, Platform as a Service (PaaS), and support services. The effort requires the maintenance and enhancement of our applications and underlying services/microservices, identifying future capability needs, and eliminating overlaps. The team continuously improves sustainment and development to reinvest resources for new capabilities and improve the effectiveness, quality, and robustness of the underlying technology. Our applications focus on intelligence analysis and collection management directly supporting intelligence analysts and operators across the intelligence community and Combatant Commands.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis using Oracle, SQL Server, SYBASE, and other DBMS.

Develop relational and/or object-oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.

Project long-range requirements for database administration and design.

Develop database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development and make trade-offs among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls.

Work primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

Develop requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for a particular business and IT subject matter area (simple to complex systems).

Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.

Participate in developing and delivering training as requested by the government to support applications.

Translate a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; update existing queries, create new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and build complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity, and database storage and retrieval using cloud methodologies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Security clearance status of TS/SCI with a CI polygraph test; must be DoD 8570 compliant at IA Technical (IAT)/IA Management (IAM) Level 2. Experience working on a development team under DoD/DIA Risk Management Framework. Understanding of Oracle and/or CENTOS based architecture, cloud, full-stack, OpenShift, and Java. Must know PostgreSQL and Oracle.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma / GED – 12 years

Associate’s Degree – 10 years

Bachelor’s Degree – 6 years

Master’s Degree – 3 years

Ph.D. – 2 years

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or information management and eight years of comparable work experience.

Up to ten or more years of program/application operations experience.

Experience in the Intelligence Community.

Strong risk management skills, excellent communication, teamwork, and conflict management skills.

Analytical ability to prioritize needs, requirements, and issues.
