Job Summary
A Bar Manager oversees the staff and operations of a bar. They are in charge of scheduling employees, managing customer complaints, and ensuring the bar is stocked and inviting to customers. Some Bar Managers are involved in the marketing and promotional advertising of a bar and may be responsible for the bar’s profitability. Bar Managers also maintain liquor licensing and ensure that staff is following local regulations. Essential Job Functions
Recruit, interview, hire and train bar staff Interact with customers to develop loyalty and handle customer concerns Ensure all licenses are current including health, safety and liquor Ensure staff is following all food control and safety regulations Ensure bars are profitable by analyzing liquor costs versus sales Work with liquor vendors to develop new productions or promotions for the bar Set and maintain standards for safe food handling, cleanliness, and safety Knowledgeable in company policies, standards, and procedures Negotiate with vendors, order supplies, manage inventories and budgets Organize and adjust staff schedules in accordance with available resources and labor regulations Resolve customer complaints promptly Inventory on all deliveries are checked in correctly and documentation is correct Check stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce wastage Oversee the bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness Plan and implement cost control measures Maintain regular communication with staff and management through meetings and discussions Able to understand and comply with all safety regulations and rules Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles Excellent computer, problem-solving, and customer service skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources Knowledge of cost control procedures Must have a flexible schedule (may be required to work late shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed) Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. In some instances, the entire shift Intermittent periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Ability to lift at least but not limited to 50 pounds and if more must be with assistance Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print) Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects) Ability to move quickly turning from left to right or right to left Flexibility in the wrist to scoop, twist, push, pull, lift, and bend Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping Ability to be mobile in walk-in refrigerator and freezer with temperatures ranging from 40° F to -10°F Preferred Education And Experience
