DeKalb County School District . Henderson Middle School is seeking an English Language Arts teacher who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. The candidate should work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities
Plan and deliver educational instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, in line with state and district standards Develop and implement lesson plans and activities for in-person and virtual learning, showing written evidence of preparation as required Communicate with district personnel, students, and/or parents by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular working hours Create an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development Use internet and web-based technology to provide instruction and collaboration with students Assess, document, and prepare reports such as achievement progress, grades, classroom performance, assessments, and attendance Supervise and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook Participate in student development and achievement-related conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, principal, and/or administrators as required Perform general instructional duties such as ordering materials, attending required meetings, and attending professional learning sessions/training Direct the work of Paraprofessionals or Instructional Aides, as needed Maintain prompt and regular work attendance Special Education and Related Requirements
Identify educational needs and provide instruction to students with varying exceptionalities Instruct students based on IEPs; assess, monitor, and report progress and communicate with families as directed by state and federal guidance Serve as the case manager for students with disabilities (e.g., prepare and maintain relevant paperwork and schedules and facilitate IEP meetings) Follow the Georgia professional code of educator ethics in all work-related activities Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a Georgia PSC-approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field Valid PSC-approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field Specific Endorsements and Certifications
Special Education: appropriate certification in service (e.g., Special Education, Adaptive curriculum, and/or Special Education General Curriculum) aligned with teaching assignment ESOL & Gifted: valid PSC-approved subject-specific endorsements Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE): minimum education requirements based on CTAE Specializations; must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment; minimum two (2) years of verifiable industrial work experience or industry licensure Additional Notes
