Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, and promote additional purchases while circulating throughout the store. Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper handling of changes, receipts, and bagging with excellent guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone, escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate, and maintain professional communication. Promote GameStop guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards loyalty program. Assist the Store Manager with setting service expectations and training associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Monitor associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; align with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document written feedback in Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed before opening or closing shifts; understand policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocols, and ethics. Schedule associates to meet guidelines, maintain breaks and meals, and supervise staffing for optimal guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off and time edits, and verify proper compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and proper function of fixtures and equipment. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily and protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention. Communicate concerns to the Store Manager and support achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Perform stock/inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain organized sales floor presentation. Balance daily POS transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and ensure adequate cash and change; make bank deposits following guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies, record variances, and conduct inventories; communicate findings to Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines. Maintain organized store records/files and keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills; provide individualized guest assistance. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment; work independently and in a team; meet performance expectations. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills; complete paperwork properly. Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Ability to manage pressure, be creative, and solve problems while maintaining guest satisfaction. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone or in teams; stand and move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed. Awareness of safety and ethical responsibilities; willingness to learn safeguarding procedures where applicable.
