Position Summary: The Senior Director of Cyber Defense Engineering will spearhead the architecture, design, and engineering of the enterprise's global cyber defense technology ecosystem. You will play a critical role in defining and executing our technical strategy to empower various core cyber defense operations, including Incident Response, Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Red Team, Threat Hunting, Insider Threat, Digital Forensics, and Vulnerability & Posture Management. In this position, you will work closely with leaders across these functions to understand their operational requirements, design innovative technical solutions, and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient platforms that support our mission. We are seeking a hands-on technical leader with a strong architectural vision, extensive cybersecurity engineering expertise, and the ability to translate the evolving needs of the cyber defense organization into sustainable engineering outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Develop and oversee the global cyber defense engineering strategy and architecture roadmap in alignment with enterprise security goals.
Collaborate with Cyber Defense leadership to design and implement tooling architectures that cater to operational needs in detection, response, threat intelligence, and resilience.
Assess emerging technologies and tools to enhance visibility, detection, and operational efficiency.
Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing management of core cyber defense platforms including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, TIP, vulnerability management, forensics, and threat hunting systems.
Ensure all tools and integrations are engineered to meet performance, scalability, and compliance requirements in hybrid and cloud environments.
Work directly with Incident Response, SOC, Threat Intelligence, Red Team, Threat Hunt, Insider Threat, Digital Forensics, and Vulnerability & Posture Management leaders to translate business and operational needs into effective engineered solutions.
Ensure engineering decisions are driven by the dynamic requirements of the cyber defense organization, maintaining feedback loops between operational and engineering teams.
Monitor platform performance, adoption, and maturity through relevant engineering KPIs and metrics.
Education and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferable.
Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, engineering, and operational principles is essential.
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, cloud ecosystems, and security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and MITRE ATT&CK.
Preferred Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC)
GIAC Security Engineering (GSE)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are considered a plus.
Work Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity or IT security engineering, with a minimum of 8 years in leadership roles overseeing global or enterprise-scale teams.
Proven track record of designing and implementing cyber defense platforms that support diverse operational functions.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with SOC, IR, Threat Intelligence, and Vulnerability Management teams to deliver integrated and actionable solutions.
Strong background in detection engineering, automation, cloud security, and threat visibility architecture.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of translating technical complexity into strategic business value.
