The location in Plymouth, North Carolina, United States, is seeking talent to fill the position of Wood Procurement/Operations Forester. This job is full-time permanent.
Reporting to the Woodyard/Raw Material Manager, your role will be to assist the team in meeting department objectives in the areas of health and safety, performance, environmental compliance, and cost while at the same time managing processes to enhance wood quality.
Responsibilities
Manage the planning, procurement, and administration of fiber supply agreements
Develop and maintain supplier relationships with a wide range of diverse individuals and businesses
Work closely with the Woodyard and Fiberline to develop, implement and manage processes to improve wood yield and eliminate waste
Oversee an incoming inspection program of fiber supply to include load validation process
Assist the department in maintaining FSC, SFI, and PEFC certifications for wood fiber supply
Develop competency with our LIMS supplier payment and fiber tracking software
Partner with the Woodyard Assistant Superintendent to ensure a safe and efficient operation
Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of on-site fiber inventory
Work in conjunction with Accounting Department on weekly and month-end closing process
Assist with the day-to-day fiber deliveries
Oversight of records management/requirements
Collaborate with other team members for cross-functional training/knowledge
Work with forest industry associations and committees promoting sustainable forest management, logger and truck driver education and safety, and support for our industry
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Preferred qualifications – degree in forestry or in a related field
Preferred Registered Forester status
Knowledge of wood procurement, wood quality, market conditions, forest management, landowner concerns, wood price structures, logging costs, wood supplier issues
A safety‑oriented mindset with the desire to enforce and follow safety and environmental policies and procedures
Strong computer skills including ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products
Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management and understanding of financial and accounting practices
Ability to build good business relationships with a wide range of individuals
Highly motivated, results oriented, driven
Critical thinker/problem solver
Valid driver’s license along with a safe driving record
