0801-25 About the College Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND. The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. This major £52 million+ investment comes on top of the College recently driving £14million into new facilities and resources at its existing sites. Programme Leader in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME)
to lead our apprentice curriculum into the next era of modern engineering techniques. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a forward-thinking programme that reflects the evolving demands of the engineering industry, where sustainability, digital tools, industry 4.0 and modern AME methods are transforming traditional trades. As Programme Leader, you will take ownership of designing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences that prepare students and apprentices for the fast-changing world Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. About the role You will work closely with both regional and national employers to ensure our learners gain the technical skills, professional behaviours, and industry-recognised qualifications needed to succeed in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, you’ll play a key role in bridging classroom learning with real-world applications. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering professional or and educator with relevant industry experience, who is passionate about developing future engineering professionals and contributing to the UK’s engineering goals. Role Responsibilities Lead curriculum development in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) with an emphasis on sustainable materials and modern engineering methods. Ensure all programmes are responsive to industry needs and aligned with engineering sector developments. Incorporate digital engineeringtools and software into teaching and learning. Engage with employers to align the curriculum with real-world skills and future job opportunities. Support and develop teaching staff to deliver engaging, high-quality learning. Promote professional standards, teamwork, and site-ready behaviours expected in today's engineering industry. Qualifications Minimum Level 3 qualification in Engineering or Advanced Manufacturing Engineering -related discipline. Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards). Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English. Health and Safety certification desirable. Candidates will need Level 4 engineering qualificationexperience and a teaching qualification is desirable;
however, we will consider candidates without teaching qualifications who are willing to work toward obtaining one. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Prior experience of working within the Engineering sector. Candidates should be proactive and have a continuous improvement mindset as you work to ensure all students receive the best possible support and guidance throughout their learning journey. Comprehensive knowledge of BTEC and T Level specifications and requirements A knowledge of employer contracts for industry placement opportunities would be advantageous What’s in it for you?
