Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience in a high-volume ED (125+ visits/day within the past 8 months)
Active Registered Nurse license (Maryland or compact state)
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB, TNCC
Essential ER nursing skills: Triage, IV starts, Phlebotomy
Preferred skills: Cerner charting system, Charge RN experience
Previous charge nurse and preceptor experience preferred
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Ability to care for all patient age groups: neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
Two supervisor references required
Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients with urgent and emergent needs in a busy ED
Perform triage, IV starts, and phlebotomy procedures
Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; administer emergency medications
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including radiology, social services, and unit secretaries
Participate in charge nurse and preceptor duties as assigned
Maintain accurate patient documentation using Cerner (preferred)
Follow infection control and safety protocols, including COVID-19 precautions
Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
