Position Summary Surgical Technologists at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, OSF Saint Francis Heart Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital of Illinois are skilled healthcare professionals educated through accredited Surgical Technology programs. They play a key role in delivering safe and effective surgical care by: Following aseptic technique and preparing OR environments. Scrubbing for a wide variety of surgical procedures, including pediatrics, thoracic, transplant, vascular, orthopedics, gynecology, robotics, plastics, urology, oncology, trauma, and more. Assisting surgeons intra-operatively by passing instruments, holding retractors, managing specimens, and maintaining sterile fields. Supporting team members, orienting new staff, and contributing to quality patient outcomes. Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities ✔ Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program (certificate or degree). ✔ Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, aseptic technique, and modern surgical principles. ✔ At least 4 months of intra-operative orientation/training required to gain proficiency with OR policies, procedures, equipment, and trauma cases. ✔ Strong communication skills to collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff. ✔ Ability to serve as a resource for peers, nurses, residents, and medical students.
