Responsibilities Work in an acute care Med/Surg Post-Surgical unit with a 27-bed capacity Typical patient population includes post-op ortho, GU, general surgery, and cath lab recovery patients Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 on days and 1:6-7 on nights Uses Cerner Soarian EMR system 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required as scheduled Floating may be required to other Med/Surg, Med/Surg-Tele, or IMC units for lower acuity patients No call required; low census standby (EA) may be assigned per staffing needs Daily duties include post-surgical care, monitoring, wound care, and medication administration Charge nurse present on every shift; patient care technicians staffed on days and nights for support No ventilators; RNs troubleshoot basic respiratory equipment as needed Scrub attire is navy blue or white (not provided by facility) One day orientation with educator plus 1-2 days with preceptor provided May be included in holiday rotation on a yearly alternating schedule Returning travelers must have a 2-year break if previously employed at any WVU Medicine facility Travel assignments may not exceed one year cumulatively without a required 2-year break Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required At least 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Experience with wound vac changes, PCA pumps, blood transfusions, and heparin drip titration per protocol required Ability to work within a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local travelers within this range Must provide an unexpired driver’s license for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-631342.
