Job Description Job Title: Phlebotomist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Phlebotomy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour; Mid 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Not specified Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience with charting in Epic preferred
Description: Variable days and nights with multiple days in between. Daily caseload per department is 250-300. Previous charge experience is not applicable. Charting system experience is required. Experience in a community hospital setting is preferred. Trauma Level II experience is preferred. Travel experience is required. The following skills are necessary: Gray top tubes (Fluoride, Potassium Oxalate) experience. Green top tubes (Heparin, Ammonia) experience. Light blue top tubes (coagulation) experience. Patient positioning skills. Ability to perform point of care testing. Post-venipuncture site care skills. Ability to prioritize patient collections based on order requests (stat, timed, routine). Experience with purple top tubes (EDTA) and red top tubes (plain). Finger stick and ABG collection skills are required. Aseptic technique is essential. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census is estimated to be 250-300. Each phlebotomist handles 30-60 patients daily. No local candidates will be accepted due to the local radius policy. Two references from positions held in the last year are needed. One manager reference is required from a position held within the last year. Seven years of work history is required, including all types of employment. Details regarding all degrees earned must be provided. Any cancellations of assignments with less than 14 days notice will be entered as a system DNR. Modules are completed during orientation and are required annually.
