About the Role
Seeking a skilled UX/UI Specialist to enhance the user experience and interface design for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Passenger Application Multimedia Support (PAMS) program. The ideal candidate will have strong UX/UI design expertise, experience working with government or federal clients, and an active CBP clearance. This role offers the opportunity to impact mission-critical applications used by CBP personnel, focusing on usability, accessibility, and design consistency.
Job Responsibilities
Lead UX/UI design efforts for CBP training and operational applications to improve usability and functionality. Collaborate with product owners, developers, and multimedia teams to translate user requirements into wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and final UI designs. Design intuitive user flows, navigation structures, dashboards, and interactive elements, adhering to government usability and accessibility standards. Develop and maintain design systems, UI style guides, and reusable components for consistency across platforms. Conduct UX research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations, iterating designs based on user feedback and stakeholder input. Support graphic design needs such as icons and interface graphics with a primary focus on UX/UI design. Work closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless handoff and accurate implementation of design assets. Ensure all designs comply with CBP branding, security requirements, and technical standards. Required Skills

Job Requirements
Active CBP Clearance and U.S. Citizenship required. Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field. Minimum 3 years of professional UX/UI design experience, preferably with government or federal clients. Proficiency in UX/UI design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch. Experience creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and design systems. Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective collaboration with developers. Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills. Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards. Ability to work in Agile development environments and cross-functional teams. Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design and delivered web or application interfaces. 2-3 days onsite per week are required.
