About the Role
The
Director of Purchasing
will lead our procurement function with a strategic, hands-on approach. You'll manage sourcing for critical raw materials, packaging components, and indirect spend while leveraging
SAP , negotiating pricing and terms, and establishing
multiple sourcing strategies
to ensure stability and cost control.
This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and works closely with
Production, R&D, Quality, and Finance .
What You'll Do Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production needs and inventory goals. Identify and qualify multiple suppliers for key materials (resins, solvents, plasticizers, additives, etc.). Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements to reduce cost and risk. Utilize
SAP
(Business One or S/4HANA) to manage purchasing operations, inventory data, and supplier records. Partner with production and scheduling to ensure just-in-time availability of materials. Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Drive procurement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain. What You Bring
7+ years
of purchasing experience in a
manufacturing environment , with
3+ years in a leadership role . Strong working knowledge of
SAP
for purchasing and inventory management. Demonstrated expertise in
supplier negotiation , pricing strategies, and contract terms. Experience managing
multiple sourcing strategies
to mitigate supply chain risk. Solid understanding of materials used in
coatings, plastics, or chemical manufacturing
(preferred). Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have
Knowledge of regulatory compliance (SDS, REACH, TSCA, DOT). Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or inventory optimization. Procurement certifications (e.g.,
CPM, CPSM ) are a plus. Experience with international sourcing/imports
