POSITION PURPOSE
The position is responsible for the administration of day-to-day operations of various group benefits programs, such as group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and accidental death, flexible spending plan, and wellness program for the US and Canada.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Benefit Administration
Ensure timely and accurate processing of all benefit related invoicing. Administer benefits operations by serving as primary contact for employees pertaining to insurance questions, interpretation of billing problems, Investigate discrepancies and provide information in routine situations. Escalate non-routine situations to Director of Total Rewards. Manage vendors, including appeals and requests for prescription overrides. Counsel employees on plan provisions so that individuals are better able to make informed benefit decisions. Administer the Disability/FMLA program. Handle any life insurance claims processing. Ensure appropriate processing of retiree life program. Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefit processes. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations including annual 1094 and 1095 filing/mailing. Assure timeliness and accuracy of required 5500 filings. Perform plan audits. Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs. Assist with the annual benefit renewal process and annual enrollment set up including creation of employee communication materials. Manage SSAB's wellness program. Assist with administration of SSAB's Canadian benefit programs and annual renewal process. Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, annual enrollment, and summary plan descriptions. Maintain benefit information in Lighthouse is review and update as needed. HRIS Administration
Coordinate with the HRIS Analyst, maintaining the Ceridian Dayforce benefit module and associated benefit records. Monitor weekly carrier feeds and troubleshooting issues that arise. Prepare regular benefit reports extracting data from the database. Provide the technical support, test system functionality and work with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems. Ensure necessary COBRA processing is completed in Ceridian Dayforce. Update employee enrollment details as needed (i.e., court ordered dependents, life events, EOI processing). Miscellaneous
Provide customer service support. Provide training and support to the field HR staff. QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies and Experience
Required:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in benefits administration. Benefits experience should include healthcare, dental, life insurance, disability income continuation and wellness programs. A strong customer service orientation. Prior vendor management experience. Excellent communication and organization skills. Strong analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of plan designs, and knowledge of the benefit's legal environment. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of benefits contract language. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefits programs, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
