Position Summary
The
Manufacturing Engineering Technician
will support process improvement and optimization efforts across the shop floor. This hands-on role is focused on observing production processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing practical improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with solid manufacturing experience and strong mechanical aptitude. The candidate will work in a team to find inefficiencies and production pain points and develop solutions while demonstrating the core company employee expectations of humility, openness to learn, and staying motivated. Experience with design and CAD tools is preferred to allow the technician to create and implement their own process improvements.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities Observe manufacturing processes on the shop floor to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, efficiency, quality, and cost. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production staff to implement process improvements. Design and fabricate fixtures, tools, and jigs to support production and assembly operations. Support the installation and validation of new equipment or process changes. Provide hands-on troubleshooting for manufacturing issues and assist with root cause analysis. Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to model or modify components and tooling. Support lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and continuous improvement projects. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Associate degree in
Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology , or related field
OR 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in
process improvement ,
production support , or
mechanical fabrication
preferred. Proficiency in
CAD software
(SolidWorks preferred). Understanding of
lean manufacturing ,
5S , or
Kaizen
principles a plus. Skills & Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently on the shop floor with minimal supervision. Effective communication and teamwork with engineering and production staff. Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office and plant environment. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The position may occasionally require lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
