The Materials Receiving & Kitting Associate is responsible for managing all incoming raw materials and ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, and organized to support efficient production operations. Receiving of material includes the verification of material through inspection and also review and storage of records. This role also ensures that raw material is available to meet customer and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Material Receiving & Inventory Management
Receive incoming raw material shipments; verify quantities, dimensions, and certifications against purchase orders. Accurately record receipts in the ERP system, maintain certification records, and label all materials for traceability. Organize and store raw materials in designated locations to maintain an efficient and safe workspace. Maintain accurate inventory records Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and material storage areas. Kitting & Job Preparation
Kit raw material based on production schedule and work order routers. Prepare raw material going out for outside processing. Verify that all required raw materials and related supplies are available and correctly identified. Stage and deliver job kits to the appropriate production area to support on-time setups. Coordinate with the Sales Engineer to ensure kitting aligns with customer-specific requirements. Track material usage and reconcile any discrepancies between issued and returned stock. Shipping Duties
Prepare purchase orders for outside processing of bar stock Serve as backup shipper Coordination & Communication
Work closely with Purchasing to resolve material discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns. Collaborate with Production and Sales to prioritize kitting based on customer due dates. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory flow and material handling efficiency. Provide timely updates on material availability and shortages impacting production schedules. Process Improvement & 5S
Identify opportunities to improve receiving, storage, and kitting processes. Participate in 5S activities to maintain organized, efficient, and safe material areas. Support standardization of labeling, storage, and kitting procedures. Preferred Qualifications
2-5 years' experience in materials handling, inventory management, or manufacturing. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with ERP systems (JobBOSS² preferred) and Microsoft Excel. Forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Mechanical aptitude and understanding of raw material specifications.
