About This Role:
We are seeking a
Senior UX/UI Designer
to lead the design of digital products, educational tools, and product labeling in the MedTech space. This role will support cross-functional teams and client programs by translating unmet user needs into intuitive, accessible, and effective design solutions. You will collaborate across disciplines to create impactful user experiences that improve clinical outcomes and reduce risk.
What You'll Do:
Lead and support UX/UI design efforts across multiple digital and print modalities on client programs in the MedTech space.
Translate user needs into design concepts through information architectures, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and interactive prototypes. Increase fidelity of digital & labeling concepts through visual communication of clinical content, establish or incorporate client brand language, and minimize cognitive load by focusing on usability. Maintain UX intent by defining UI Design Systems and Style Guides in specification packages for software or manufacturing teams. Design user-centered labeling and educational materials like instructions for use (IFUs), quick reference guides (QRGs), on-device labeling, and digital guides that prepare confident users by reducing risk.
Advise and support client relationships as a design lead:
Present design concept solutions to clients regularly with clear intent backed by rationale in feasibility, desirability, and viability. Plan and manage design activities to meet project timelines and budgets. Support user research activities by participating in clinical site visits, concept feedback sessions, and HF usability testing. Collaborate cross-functionally with Design Researchers, Industrial Designers, Human Factors Engineers, Software Engineers and more.
As a senior designer in the team support a culture of critical review by:
Mentor junior designers and contribute to team culture and functional expertise. Share knowledge and actively listen to team needs. Support team-building activities and contribute to a culture of design critique. Gain exposure to business development activities and proposal processes. Advocate in the UX/UI design community as a thought leader. Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, interactive design, industrial design, or related discipline. 3-6 years of relevant UX/UI design experience, preferably in MedTech or healthcare. Strong knowledge of user experience and interaction design in digital and print interfaces. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Travel may be required for clinical site visits and client engagements. Hybrid or office-based role located in Providence, Rhode Island.
Preferred:
Experience designing UI design systems. Experience illustrating use steps for instructional guidance. Experience designing for regulated environments (e.g., FDA, EU MDR). Familiarity with supporting human factors usability testing, user research interviews and clinical site visits. Experience in business development or proposal writing. Public speaking or advocacy in the UX/UI design community.
