HVAC Project Manager Summary

A leading commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an HVAC Project Manager for their growing Wilmington, NC operations. This individual will take on a hybrid role that combines project management with estimating and business development responsibilities. This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone who understands mechanical systems, thrives in client-facing environments, and is eager to grow into a future leadership role as the Wilmington division expands. A company vehicle is provided, and while field site visits are expected, this role will have more office-based work compared to similar roles.

HVAC Project Manager Responsibilities

- Manage HVAC construction projects from kickoff to closeout, including scheduling, labor coordination, materials procurement, and client communication - Perform takeoffs, assist in mechanical estimating, and generate scopes and budgets for proposed work - Identify and pursue new project opportunities in the Wilmington market in collaboration with leadership and estimators in Raleigh - Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, and prospective clients to support long-term pipeline growth - Support project and business development initiatives including networking, proposal development, and preconstruction meetings - Ensure safety, quality control, and adherence to project specifications throughout the project lifecycle - Coordinate with field foremen and office teams to ensure smooth project execution and accurate documentation - Participate in weekly project planning meetings and labor forecasting

Job Requirements

HVAC Project Manager Requirements

- 7+ years of HVAC project management experience in commercial construction; prior estimating or sales experience is highly preferred

- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems (hydronic, VRF, ductwork, controls) and mechanical drawings

- Ability to interact professionally with GCs, clients, and field personnel; strong communication and organizational skills are essential

- Experience with project software tools (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Excel) and ability to quickly learn internal systems

- Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar field highly preferred
