Overview
A prominent national law firm is seeking a
Docket Clerk
to join its New York office. The Docket Clerk will play a key role in maintaining the firm's litigation calendar, ensuring compliance with filing deadlines, and supporting case teams across federal, state, and regulatory matters. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong knowledge of court rules and procedures, and proficiency in docketing and calendaring systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex court filings, interpreting procedural rules, and collaborating with attorneys and staff in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain and update the firm's master litigation calendar, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable court rules.
Create and manage notification processes and individualized attorney calendars.
Calculate filing and response deadlines based on relevant statutes and procedural rules.
Monitor active cases, research docket activity, and coordinate with external vendors to obtain publicly filed documents.
Prepare and file court documents both electronically and manually in state and federal courts.
Collaborate with the Managing Clerk's Office to maintain the firm's docketing database and provide updates to attorneys.
Respond to attorney inquiries regarding rules, deadlines, and filing requirements, offering procedural guidance as needed.
Generate customized docket reports and assist with audits, appeals lists, and other administrative tracking projects.
Coordinate and, when necessary, perform in-person court services, including retrieving and filing documents or coordinating process servers.
Monitor case progress, obtain decisions and orders, and promptly communicate updates to responsible attorneys.
Maintain accurate time entries using the firm's timekeeping software.
Provide general administrative and litigation support as assigned. Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
Minimum of 5 years of docketing or calendaring experience in a law firm environment.
Proficiency with industry-standard calendaring software (e.g., CourtAlert, CompuLaw).
Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules, including the CPLR and FRCP.
Experience with electronic filing systems (e.g., PACER, NYSCEF, Bloomberg, Courtlink).
Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and client service abilities.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Professional demeanor with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the firm.
Willingness to work overtime as needed. Work Environment
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays required), 2 days remote.
Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $82,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
