Surgery Scheduler – Gastroenterology

Hours Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm

Responsibilities
Greet patients in person or over the phone in a friendly manner.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal physicians and scheduling staff at facilities.
Verify patient personal and insurance information and coordinate pre‑op testing per insurance requirements.
Serve as the single point of contact for internal staff and external inquiries regarding scheduled procedures.
Schedule or reschedule pre‑op labs or other testing prior to procedures and surgeries if needed.
Contact patients to confirm procedures/surgeries.
Explain and verify proper preparation instructions with patients, routing to nurse if appropriate.
Prepare all essential paperwork for referral coordinators and facilities.
Verify daily doctor schedules, print and distribute to appropriate personnel.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with billing staff to ensure proper charging of procedures.
Cover or fill in for co‑workers as needed.
Track case volume and direct cases to facilities per management direction.
Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology and verbal/ written communication.
Experience with CPT and ICD‑9 coding.
Familiarity with referral processes.
Ability to learn new computer programs quickly.
Professional demeanor toward customers, physicians, and co‑workers.
Strong multitasking, prioritization, time‑management skills.
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of prior surgery scheduling, telephone, computer, and customer service experience.
Compensation Base pay range of $16.30–$24.50 per hour, determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
