Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) owns and expands the operating engine of PCs for People. They are a seasoned executive and strategic partner to the CEO, responsible for driving operational excellence across the organization. This role leads the refinement, design, and integration of organization-wide systems, processes, and cross-functional initiatives that support scalable growth, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO ensures that the organization is equipped with the right infrastructure—people, systems, controls, and reporting mechanisms—to deliver on its mission and strategic goals. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, growth-oriented, and adept at translating vision into execution through disciplined operations and collaborative leadership. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO oversees regional and departmental leaders, fostering alignment and accountability across diverse teams. This role requires periodic travel to market locations to support operational oversight and strategic initiatives. You’ll act as right hand to the CEO to unblock the organization, lead execution, and improve company velocity - partnering directly with leaders to strengthen the operational backbone of the company, build scalable systems, and prepare us for our next phase of growth. Cross-Functional and Strategic Execution Tech Operations (Refurbishment & Quality) Operational Performance & Planning Operational Market Expansion Warehouse, Logistics & Fleet Operations Compliance, Safety & Facilities Oversight Requirements
10+ years of senior leadership experience, non-profit experience preferred 10+ years in operations management, including finance, product, human resources, and operations Experience with certifications programs such as ISO 14001/45001, R2 and NAID Prior experience in building and scaling operational systems & processes for maximum efficiency & productivity Expertise in data analytics and performance metrics Proven success working in cross-functional teams to build creative solutions Collaborative and effective manager with experience supporting the career development of colleagues and direct reports High EQ level conducive to collaborating with multiple parts of the business and functioning well with a variety of personality types Strong project management, organization, and presentation skills Problem solver at your core, self-motivated and driven by action Efficacy & comfort in both startup and high scale environments Proven ability to enthusiastically lead & mobilize an evolving team through change and high-growth periods in an organization’s trajectory Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams Able to identify gaps, opportunities & strengths within an organization’s infrastructure, and to provide innovative strategies to improve processes & systems Experience with ISP or other technical operations highly desirable Ability to develop, motivate & lead teams; evaluate existing processes for improvements; identify gaps and build new processes from the ground up, and deliver measurable results quickly.
