POSITION SUMMARY The Executive Director is the key management leader; responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational execution, and driving chapter growth. This individual will collaborate with the President and Board to enhance the member experience, optimize processes, and lead recruitment and retention efforts. The Executive Director ensures that the chapter remains a thriving, engaged community of high‑impact entrepreneurs.

This role requires someone who brings administrative support and event planning experience to help the Board of Directors create “once‑in‑a‑lifetime” experiences and learning opportunities that foster both personal and professional growth for members. The Executive Director will report to the Chapter President, work alongside the volunteer Board of Directors, and liaise with the Regional and Global staff to plan and execute programs and services. Critically, this individual is a “do‑er” who is detail‑oriented, an effective communicator, and thrives in a role that utilizes their organizational skills to execute events for members.

RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership & Member Experience

Develop and implement strategic plans that meet goals and objectives created in partnership with the board and Leadership

Align and adopt chapter strategy and implement strategic plans.

Act as the primary point of contact for all members and board members.

Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and retention.

Manage various membership processes, including managing prospect lists, new member application processing, and review administrative tasks associated with Member Recruitment Test Drives.

Manages the execution of the renewal process.

Oversee the Chapter Coordinator and other support staff.

Work closely with other chapters to ensure we are using best practices and sharing resources.

Operational & Financial Management

Oversee administrative operations, including assisting finance chair with budget planning and financial management.

Manage some accounts payable and receivable activities and work with the bookkeeper to ensure key bookkeeping activities are completed for the Finance Chair.

Invoice members in a timely manner, members may elect quarterly or annual payment.

Ensure smooth transitions for new Board members and facilitate governance best practices.

Assist with onboarding Strategic Alliance Partners/Chapter Sponsors.

Ensure consistent communication of key events to SAPs.

Invoice SAP’s according to their contracts and assist in collections.

Ensure all reports and requests from Regional and Global are met with timely responses.

Work with regional/global for member invoicing, renewals and payment issues.

Event & Program Management

Plan and execute high‑quality learning and networking events.

Secure venues, assist with vendor contract execution, and coordinate with vendors before and day of events. (Food & Beverage/AV needs/ event layouts/ Music. Etc.)

Manage event registration, communication before and day‑of‑event, track attendance, and ensure data is up to date.

Collaborate with Committee Chairs to enhance programming and maximize participation.

Maintain a structured event calendar and execution plan using Monday software.

Monthly Board meetings: Schedule meetings, send out calendar invites, create agendas, and take meeting minutes.

Learning Chair Events: 10 events a year, work closely with the Learning Chair to help execute events.

Social Events: 10 events a year, work closely with the Social Chair to help execute events.

Assist all Chairs with event execution, Test Drives, GSEA, Forum, etc.

Marketing & Communications

Manage the digital presence, ensuring up-to-date and compelling content.

Develop communication strategies to keep members informed and engaged according to the playbook.

Oversee sponsorship visibility and value delivery through communication platforms.

Technology & Process Optimization

Utilize technology to streamline operations, track engagement, and improve member experience.

Implement process improvements to drive efficiency in administration and communication.

Maintain organized documentation and backups of key organizational records.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in leadership, program management, or operations.

Experience in event planning, membership organizations, or non‑profit leadership is a plus.

Strong public speaking skills and ability to articulate mission and values.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Social Media tools (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), CRM tools, and event management platforms.

Knowledge or experience with Canva. Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, or other graphic design software is a plus.

Knowledge or experience with Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or other mass email communication tools.

Experience with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus.

Reside in the Metro Detroit area and ability to join virtual and in‑person meetings and events.

Work hours include evenings and occasional weekends.

Travel requirements: approximately 3‑4 trips a year.

Must have a valid passport for international travel.
