Common Qualifications While each startup has its own hiring criteria, many
CTO

12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in technical leadership roles
Proven track record of scaling technology organizations from early-stage to growth
Experience leading distributed teams and cross‑functional collaboration
Deep expertise in software architecture, cloud computing, and product development lifecycles
Strong understanding of venture‑backed startup dynamics, fundraising, and investor relations
Ability to align technology initiatives with business growth, revenue, and market strategy
Experience working with high‑growth technology companies or VC‑backed startups
