About The Role Under the direction of the VP of Support Services, ensure the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of all physical assets and equipment of assigned facilities. Administer and direct programs to manage building maintenance, grounds, equipment, and utilities generation and distribution within University Hospital’s facilities. Coordinate with project teams, construction, and renovation programs.
Responsibilities
Manages computerized programs in Preventive Maintenance, Construction, Financial Management, and Energy Control to plan, organize, and control functions and activities of plant operations and building maintenance.
Reviews and evaluates existing programs, services, policies, and procedures. Develops, recommends to VP of Support Services, and implements or guides implementation of new and/or modified programs and policies.
Meets with VP of Support Services, medical, administrative and supervisory staff, community groups, agencies, contractors, architects, and engineers to plan, organize, coordinate, and communicate programs, services, policies, and procedures.
Monitors flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of workload and adherence to facility standards and regulations.
Ensures adequate inventories of supplies and approves requisitions for equipment and supplies as authorized.
Prepares and manages departmental budgets, including utilities energy savings program.
Maintains departmental records and reports.
Manages compliance with TJC, State Health Department, CMS, EPA, DEP, ADA, UST, and other regulatory bodies.
Plans, coordinates, and monitors construction and development of physical facilities.
Understands agreements and expectations in the CSA with Rutgers related to utilities, grounds, and buildings.
Responsible for in-house fire response team.
Identifies key issues and action programs for staffing, training, safety, labor relations, facilities, energy conservation, customer service, capital renewal, productivity, affirmative action compliance, etc.
Monitors and controls operations and maintenance within budgetary limitations. Enforces spending controls and reviews operations reports to identify overspending in maintenance and capital areas.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facility management or related field (preferred). Seven years of progressively more responsible experience, with five years at a managerial level, in an acute medical care center (required).
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and ability to function in a team environment (required).
Knowledge of AutoCad, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook (required).
Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment (preferred).

Compensation In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is PS/37S - MS/37S - $135,789.00 - $179,126.00 - $222,469.00 per year. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
