Role EXP is currently seeking a dynamic

Project Engineer

for its

Chicago

office to work within the Transportation + Infrastructure business practice. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Civil Department Manager with a focus on highways, roadways, freeways and toll road related projects. Work on rail, airport and site civil projects may also be required. The projects will involve a wide variety of civil engineering skills and abilities for clients such as IDOT, CDOT, Illinois Tollway and local agencies in northeast Illinois.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Support Project Managers to assure projects meet client required schedules, budgets and quality standards. This may include development of Project Management Plans, QA/QC Plans, scopes of work, level of effort estimates and delivery schedules.

Lead project teams in the delivery of technical documents and deliverables for any phase of a project from feasibility, through planning and design and may include design services during construction.

Lead the development of reports, studies, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.

Mentor and develop junior engineers.

Lead and coordinate design activities between internal staff, subconsultants, and clients and this may involve work share management with other EXP offices.

Perform planning and design related activities in your area of expertise and oversee and check the work of others.

May potentially assist in the preparation of proposal, participate in project presentations and marketing activities with clients.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

What your experience looks like

BS in Civil Engineering

8+ years of experience.

Licensed PE in the State of Illinois

In depth knowledge of Bentley’s MicroStation and Open Roads Designer CAD software required with a preference for a background in 3D modeling.

Experienced user of Microsoft Office products.

Strong technical design background in any civil engineering discipline required, but the is a preference in the ability to deliver multi-discipline projects for a wide variety of clients, project types and sizes.

Experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT and local agency project development and delivery requirements, policies and standards.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians.

Works well with others in in-person and virtual formats and can handle multiple concurrent and competing assignments.

Compensation and benefits The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $155,000 .

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
