Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineer develops, qualifies, and implements manufacturing processes and procedures for the build, test and launch of satellites, related subsystems, and components. This role requires working the second shift. The internal job code is Manufacturing Engineer, levels 2‑3.
Responsibilities
Assists in the development of manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Reviews designs for manufacturability and production scalability; supports tasks as needed to transition hardware build from low‑rate initial production to higher‑rate production.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Assures product and process quality by improving testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; refining standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Provides manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (ABET accredited).
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering, or a similar field in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and policies and recommend changes to procedures.
Strong technical problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis with sound engineering‑based corrective actions.
Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and concepts.
The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of root cause analysis and related analytical methodologies (Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa Analysis, 8D, etc.).
Experience with engineering and project‑management methods.
Aerospace and/or DOD experience.
Background in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement.
Experience in PCB/PCBA manufacturing.
Experience with Altium Designer.
Good understanding of IPC‑A‑600 & IPC‑A‑610.
Experience with NASA‑STD‑8739.1.
Familiarity with IPC‑6012, IPC‑4101, and IPC‑7711C/7721C.
IPC‑A‑600 & IPC‑A‑610 certification.
Summary Pay‑Range
Level 2: $80,750 – $118,750
Level 3: $96,050 – $141,250
