This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm, Blanch NC which houses approximately 640 male offenders. The individual appointed to this position will directly report to the Associate Warden of Programs. The primary purpose of this position is to direct statewide complex programs within an agency, requiring specialized knowledge of issues, policies and procedures, state, and local agency processes. This position serves as a manager with program authority around assignment and oversees all operations and services provided by staff. This position’s responsibilities include the following.
Responsibilities
Strategic and tactical planning of daily operations
Maintain and manage specific duties related to personnel and staff development
Critique policies and create procedures associated with business functions
Execute job assignments that require extensive research and planning and ensure deadlines are met
Provide administrative, programmatic, and fiscal oversight via regular supervision, guidance, training, and technical assistance to staff, state-level policy guidance, comprehensive monitoring and forming federal, state, and local linkages
Provide project management to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and contract provisions
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed in the vacancy announcement should be used as management preferences and be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Work Schedule This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with https://oshr.nc.gov/state-employee-resources/benefits. The selected candidate will work Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Hours may vary at times depending on the business needs of the facility.
Note to Current State Employees State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
