Job Overview Dashiell is a turnkey Engineering, Construction, and Testing company specializing in medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure. This role focuses on transmission line design (34.5 kV–500 kV) with both civil and electrical aspects.
Responsibilities
Generate cost‑effective designs for high voltage electrical transmission lines
Represent the Engineering department and participate in inter‑department meetings
Attend meetings with customers as needed to support the Sales department and the engineers
Monitor team progress and activities to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget and exceed customer expectations
Perform transmission line engineering work independently
Balance innovation and standardization of work processes
Ensure projects meet quality and schedule objectives (project engineer or senior project engineer)
Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by assignments
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 3 years of hands‑on transmission line design experience (10+ years for senior positions)
Licensed professional engineer, or ability to obtain a license within one year of hire
Experience preparing cost‑effective designs in an EPC environment
Effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of routing, conductor selection, structure determination, plan and profile development, and material takeoffs
Understanding of substation structures, foundations, and site development issues
Proficiency with engineering application software such as PLS‑CADD
Familiarity with engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI and ANSI applicable to transmission design
Extensive knowledge of design documents and drawings required for a complete project
Physical Requirements
Minor physical effort; primarily desk work with occasional outdoor exposure to weather and noise
Ability to sit and work on a computer for a minimum of eight hours a day
Willingness to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings (10%)
May be required to work extended hours, including weekends, periodically
May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
