Job Description:
Instrumentation & Control Group Manager (I&C) provides leadership, vision, and oversight of all instrumentation and controls activities across the company’s boiler and pump sales and service business. The position is accountable for establishing company-wide I&C standards, supervising and mentoring I&C engineers, and coordinating with I&C technicians and service teams across multiple offices. The Manager also develops, implements, and maintains a structured training program to ensure consistent knowledge and competency.
Essential Functions
Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of I&C engineers, providing guidance on technical and professional development.
Collaborate with I&C technicians and service teams across regional offices to ensure consistency of project execution.
Serve as the primary technical authority on PLC, HMI, SCADA, combustion controls, and field instrumentation.
Establish, document, and maintain I&C program standards and best practices for design and program documentation.
Training & Development
Develop and maintain a comprehensive training schedule for I&C engineers, technicians, and service teams.
Coordinate in‑house and factory training opportunities to keep staff current with standards, regulatory requirements, and new technologies.
Implement cross‑training programs to strengthen collaboration between I&C and service personnel.
Track training progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
Project & Technical Accountability
Oversee specification, programming, testing, and startup of boiler control and related systems.
Ensure project compliance with safety, efficiency, and emission requirements.
Review and approve electrical, mechanical, SAMA, and P&ID drawings to support project execution.
Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting expertise to field teams.
Support customer relationships through technical excellence and responsive communication.
Requirements
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Deep knowledge of boilers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
Proficiency with PLC, SCADA, HMI, burner management systems, and field instrumentation calibration.
Ability to develop standards, training materials, and technical documentation.
High‑level problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ethical conduct and professional credibility.
Supervisory Responsibility
Direct supervision of I&C Engineers.
Indirect collaboration and training oversight for I&C Technicians on local office service teams with inclusion of the local office operations managers and foremen.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Standard office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Some extended hours and travel may be required to support training, project execution, and customer needs.
Work will include both office and field environments.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive instrumentation and controls experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Extensive industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable record.
