Pride Health is hiring a Histology
Tech
to support our client’s medical facility based in
Washington, DC . This is a
local contract or travel contract

Expanded Job Responsibilities: Specimen Processing and Preparation Receive, accession, and verify patient specimens. Properly fix, process, and embed tissue specimens for microscopic examination. Cut sections using microtome and prepare slides for staining. Staining and Slide Preparation Perform routine histological stains (H&E) and special stains (PAS, Trichrome, etc.). Execute immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other advanced staining techniques accurately. Troubleshoot staining issues and adjust protocols as needed. Quality Control and Assurance Conduct routine quality control on reagents, equipment, and slides. Maintain accurate records of QC tests and any corrective actions taken. Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CAP, CLIA). Equipment Operation and Maintenance Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as microtomes, tissue processors, and automated stainers. Identify and report equipment malfunctions promptly. Documentation and Reporting Accurately label, log, and track specimens and slides. Maintain detailed records of procedures, stains, and test results. Communicate effectively with pathologists and laboratory staff regarding specimen quality and processing status. Laboratory Safety and Compliance Follow standard precautions and maintain a safe work environment. Dispose of biohazardous materials according to regulatory guidelines. Training and Collaboration Assist in training new staff or students on histology techniques and laboratory procedures. Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory personnel to ensure optimal diagnostic quality. Continuous Improvement Stay updated on new histology techniques, technologies, and best practices. Participate in departmental meetings, proficiency testing, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors or Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Physical Science from an accredited college or university
Experience: 3 years of experience working as a histotechnologist/histo technician
Licensure/Certification: HT / HTL (ASCP) certification required CPR certification (AHA)
required.
Additional Information: Location: Washington, DC Job Type: 13 weeks- local contract or travel contract Shift:
5x8 Days Pay Range/Salary Range: $1950/wk to $2150/wk
