Position Summary This role is for the lead file storage engineer and primary Subject Matter Expert for file storage platforms including NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerScale and CTERA NAS gateways. This role will provide consulting services for all file storage projects, evaluate and certify all new file storage features and capabilities, lead all Proof of Concept efforts for new file storage solutions, serve as the lead technical interface with the vendor, provided engineering-level escalation support for production issues and provided guidance and QA testing to the storage automation team.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience working on building, deploying, and operating NetApp storage systems, general enterprise storage, and object storage platforms in a large enterprise environment.
Experience in NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerScale, NetApp StorageGRID, RHEL, Windows, Cisco, Arista, Hitachi HCP, AWS and Cloud technologies.
Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS/Object protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, CIFS/SMB and S3.
Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and VMware systems administration.
Proficient in infrastructure automation tasks and interacting with REST API services using tools such as shell scripting, Ansible or Terraform
An appreciation of the code selection, certification, and delivery lifecycle within a team-based environment
Hands on experience with enterprise storage infrastructure deployments from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and support.
Experience in building large scale distributed enterprise storage platforms with focus on performance, scale, security, reliability, and cost.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills are a must.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with automation in one or more of the programming: Python, Ansible
Experience with monitoring, reporting and documentation tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, JIRA, Confluence(wiki), AIQUM, ActiveIQ and InsightIQ.
Operate in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
Experience working within a regulated financial environment is desirable.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a global team with direct responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies and assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Assists with translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
Assists in the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose
Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes
Conducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption
Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains
