What We're Looking For
Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Traffic Engineering Associate for our Georgia office. This position will be an embedded employee at the GDOT District Traffic Operations office in either Jesup Georgia or Tennille Georgia. Responsibilities
Prepare various types of traffic studies such as traffic engineering studies, intersection safety analysis, interchange analysis, assist with corridor planning documents
Provide intersection and corridor operational analysis
Assist with the development of intersection operational improvements
Prepare traffic signal and signing/pavement marking designs
Use synchro software to develop traffic analysis and help implement signal timing plans
Participate in project site visits with other project team members as needed
Assist with transportation planning studies as needed
Perform and review traffic counts, speed studies, access permits, and safety studies for the Georgia Department of Transportation
Prepare and review traffic studies to determine appropriate treatments and traffic control to resolve safety and congestion issues
Work with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery
Demonstrate strong attention to detail
Perform other duties as requested
Education & Experience Qualifications Education & Skills
B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
0‑3 years transportation or traffic engineering experience preferred
Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office and Excel is a must. Knowledge of Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, ArcGIS, and OpenRoads Designer is desired
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Basic familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
