About the Role The Business Development Representative (BDR) sells POOLCORP’s value proposition to customers across all segments, including pool builders, service providers, and retailers. The BDR plays a key role in customer retention, generating revenue, and driving sales growth.

Responsibilities

Develop a strategy to increase sales and profits within the assigned territory for different customer segments.

Prospect and generate leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research.

Build relationships with customers by understanding and supporting their business.

Plan and execute a minimum number of daily scheduled sales calls with defined objectives.

Travel within the designated territory to deliver best‑in‑class sales presentations and product demonstrations.

Negotiate terms, close sales, and handle post‑sale support.

Coordinate sales efforts with corporate marketing initiatives and incentives.

Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.

Provide quotes and product data promptly and accurately.

Develop relationships with regional and division leadership to achieve individual and broader goals.

Maintain all customer records in the CRM, completing reports and call records in a timely fashion.

Stay current on competitor activities, market conditions, and industry trends through ongoing research and analysis.

Qualifications

At least 2 years of professional‑level business‑to‑business sales experience.

Proven track record of successful sales in a wholesale distribution environment.

Ability to cold call on prospective clients.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to build trust and long‑term relationships.

Knowledge of industry products and distribution processes.

Self‑motivation and ability to work independently.

Knowledge of one or more product lines such as pool equipment, plumbing supplies, tile, decking, exterior lighting, patio furniture, construction materials, chemicals, landscaping/irrigation supplies, HVAC supplies, or similar goods.

Proficiency with a CRM (e.g., Microsoft CE) and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiarity with Prelude or similar inventory management software is preferred.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (no more than 2 violations within 3 years) and willingness to travel regularly.

Occasional ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds at the sales center or customer site.

Must be 21 years of age or older.
