ADAS Verification & Validation - System HIL Engineer Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team creates innovative solutions to make the driving experience safer, easier, and more enjoyable for our customers. The Virtual Verification and Validation team evaluates the functionality and performance of ADAS features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, and Surround View Camera via Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and Vehicle in the Loop (VIL) testing. The team integrates models, hardware and software to build a virtual representation of the complete test vehicle, runs the virtual vehicle through thousands of scenarios, and identifies issues in embedded software.

This position focuses on development of ADAS feature test cases, test tools, analysis methods, and test bench architecture improvements that enable these tools and methods.

Responsibilities

Work as an individual contributor on an agile test team, developing and proving out test tools, automation, analysis methods, and supporting software testing.

Develop and integrate software and hardware solutions to enable a virtual vehicle test environment to support testing of new and existing ADAS features.

Develop and integrate camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensor stimulation and simulation tools to support testing of new and existing ADAS features.

Analyze test bench functionality to correlate to vehicle behavior in real world scenarios.

Develop image analysis tools to assess image content in ADAS and infotainment image pipeline.

Prove out test tools and test benches by performing automated and manual test execution and results analysis.

Develop tooling for automated generation of executable test cases from Gherkin scenarios.

Develop a library of test cases to validate ADAS cameras and ECUs functionality.

Support test execution and issue debugging to verify quality of tools and test cases.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with technical specialists, product owner, developers, simulation, HIL test, and vehicle test teams to establish tools and test procedures that reduce dependency on vehicle level testing.

Grow and demonstrate technical leadership among highly energized and collaborative peers in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

2+ years of experience in integration and testing of ADAS software and sensors in a HiL environment.

2+ years of experience in test tool development or software development.

Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, JavaScript).

Experience working with embedded software systems, launching and supporting software for hardware products.

Even Better If

Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, System Engineering or related field.

2+ years of experience designing and building HIL (NI or dSPACE) test systems for ADAS development and validation.

Experience with software development for image analysis.

Experience with Tracetronic ecu.test and test.guide software.

Experience with ADAS and/or vehicle dynamics simulation tools (CarSim, CarMaker, monoDrive, Unreal, etc.).

Experience working with Docker, CMake, Conan, Jenkins, Bazel and other build and development environment tools.

Understanding of various embedded software communication protocols such as CAN, UDS, SOME/IP, UDP.

Experience with software testing in AUTOSAR framework.

Experience working in an Agile or V‑Cycle software development environment.

Salary range: Grade 6‑8, approximate annual compensation $100,000.00‑$140,000.00 (depending on location and experience).

Work arrangement: Position is hybrid (onsite four days per week).
