Job Summary

The Echo Cardiographer is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiographic procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. This role involves using advanced ultrasound imaging technology to capture detailed images of the heart’s structure and function. The Echo Cardiographer ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and professional, compassionate care throughout the diagnostic process.

Key Responsibilities Perform echocardiographic examinations including 2D, M-mode, and Doppler imaging in accordance with established protocols. Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and ensuring comfort and safety. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image quality. Analyze and document cardiac ultrasound findings for physician interpretation. Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain accurate patient records and comply with departmental policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety standards. Participate in continuing education and remain current with advances in cardiac imaging technology.

Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography or Echocardiography program. Demonstrated proficiency in echocardiographic imaging techniques and cardiac anatomy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team. Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification required.
