Description
The Design and Release Engineer will develop components/systems from initial design concept through full volume production. Responsibilities include providing feasibility input for designs from Product Design Office concepts, managing development timelines, developing functional, build, DVPR, and DFMEA objectives, leading design efforts, releasing completed geometries using Teamcenter/NX CAD tools, validating virtual designs via CAE resources, performing physical validation through component, system, and vehicle level testing, managing internal documentation, overseeing tool construction and assembly production, supporting vehicle pilot builds and production launch, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying cost reduction opportunities and safety compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
3–5 years of experience in automotive product development at a supplier or OEM.
Experience with Class A injection‑molded parts and interior/exterior plastic injections or exposed decorated steel components (e.g., truck bumpers).
Self‑starter with demonstrated problem‑solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to summarize and present to management and cross‑functional teams.
Experience leading teams and working on complex components or issues.
OEM or Tier 1 experience.
4 days onsite in Auburn Hills minimum; driving required; up to 20 % travel locally in metro Detroit, possible cross‑border travel to Canada.
