Overview
Stantec’s Upstate New York Transportation group has an immediate need for Civil Engineer EITs with 0-3 years of experience in roadway/highway design, traffic control & construction staging design, right-of-way engineering, access design, and utility engineering. The position is for our Albany, NY office. This role involves working on transportation projects ranging from local roads and complete streets to major interstates and shared use paths and trails. You will learn, work on exciting projects, and grow your career in a team-focused environment. Your Responsibilities
Use knowledge of general engineering concepts to support projects focusing on transportation systems such as highways, streets, drainage structures, utilities, traffic signals and roadway lighting. Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering components using company standard software and proprietary tools. Assist in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions. Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and professionals under the direction of a senior engineer. Provide support during construction, including submittal reviews and responses to RFI and contract document clarifications. Perform field work related to construction as required. Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff. Qualifications
Basic understanding of general concepts of civil design. Basic understanding of MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team. Education and Experience
Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community or technical college, or demonstrated knowledge from prior experience. 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering consulting or construction.
