Galtra Solutions
Senior Mechanical Applications Engineer - Galtra Solutions
Galtra Solutions designs and manufactures modular, prefabricated infrastructure systems for mission‑critical data centers. We integrate mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation into site‑ready packages that accelerate delivery, increase density, and cut integration risk. We partner with owners, operators, and leading engineering firms to deliver standardized, scalable solutions for AI‑ready and HPC environments.
Role Overview This is a senior‑level, hands‑on engineering role. You will own mechanical application engineering for Galtra’s prefabricated platforms, bridging requirements, design, and vendor execution. You will also collaborate closely with the Supply Chain Director, Operations Director, Sales, and the President to ensure products meet both technical and commercial goals.
Essential Functions
Lead development of prefabricated mechanical offerings such as fan coil units, chilled water skids, hydronic systems, and integrated assemblies.
Translate customer requirements and drawings into manufacturable, scalable solutions with clear BOMs and options.
Independently select and size fans, coils, pumps, valves, and piping, providing calculation packages and design notes.
Collaborate with electrical and controls teams on integration of VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, safeties, and BAS/EPMS points lists (BACnet/Modbus).
Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Ops Director, Sales, and President to align designs with vendor capacity, cost targets, delivery schedules, and customer needs.
Support prototyping, FAT/SAT, and first‑article builds; troubleshoot issues and close gaps fast.
Produce and maintain datasheets, submittals, IOMs, and application guides under tight revision control.
Work with vendors and fabricators on tolerances, weld and piping standards, coatings, vibration, and QA/QC processes.
Contribute to IP development by modularizing platforms and applying DFM/VAVE principles.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A BS in Mechanical Engineering required (MS preferred).
7+ years of experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, or industrial product development. Mission‑critical/data center background strongly preferred.
Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, HVAC design, and hydronic systems.
Familiarity with prefabricated equipment, modular/skid systems, and DFM practices.
CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar).
Working knowledge of electrical distribution, controls, and BAS/BMS systems is highly desirable.
Ability to thrive in a remote, fast‑moving environment with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills for cross‑team and vendor/customer engagement.
Preferred Skills
Experience with data center or mission‑critical equipment such as CRAs, CRACs, fan coils, chilled water plants, or CDUs.
Exposure to commissioning processes, including FAT, SAT, or other system‑level testing.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes commonly used in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical system design (e.g., ASHRAE guidelines, UL safety standards, NFPA codes).
Comfort working with ERP/CRM/PLM systems (NetSuite, HubSpot, or similar).
Hands‑on experience with design and analysis tools such as coil selection software, hydronic modeling, or CFD.
Physical Demands
Frequently required to remain in a stationary position.
Frequently moving through office, facility and other environments.
On occasion the employee may move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Travel / Relocation Requirements Up to 25% travel, may include travel to any or all 50 US states.
Benefits
Choice of comprehensive medical plans (including two PPO‑style plans and a HDHP with HSA option).
Flex spending accounts (FSA).
Dental and vision plans.
Comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits extended to spouse/domestic partner and dependent children up to age 26.
