Public Health Emergency Planner Full-Time Contractual (COORDINATOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS IV, HS)
Main Purpose of Job:
To direct and coordinate public health emergency preparedness and response for Talbot County Health Department and support surrounding jurisdictions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of professional experience assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.
Note: Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health‑related field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing and updating preparedness and response protocols, plans, procedures and guidelines using an all‑hazards approach.
Experience planning, designing and conducting exercises and drills in conjunction with other agencies, including after‑action reviews.
Experience participating in emergency preparedness committees.
Benefits:
Contractual employees working 30 or more hours per week (or an average of 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. The employee is responsible for paying 25% of premiums; the State of Maryland subsidizes the remaining 75%. Additional coverage options such as dental, accidental death & dismemberment, and life insurance are available by paying the full premium. Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
