Position Overview The successful candidates will be nationally or internationally recognized investigators who have established independent and impactful research programs in areas relevant to genitourinary malignancies, with particular applicability to
bladder and/or prostate cancer . This unique cluster hire—supported by the rich scientific environments of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and the College of Medicine, in partnership with a leading clinical department—offers an exceptional opportunity to leverage shared strengths in cancer biology, tumor immunology, comparative oncology, translational therapeutics, and investigator‑initiated clinical trials. The initiative is intentionally cross‑cutting, designed to foster synergy across departments and colleges, and to position The Ohio State University as a national leader in genitourinary cancer research and discovery.
Applicants will be expected to engage in collaborative research that strengthens and expands existing institutional partnerships, while contributing to the training and mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) and demonstrate a record of sustained extramural funding and impactful scholarly publication. The successful applicants will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a strong commitment to teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Exceptional candidates will be eligible for consideration for endowed positions and leadership opportunities aligned with their expertise and record of achievement.
Teaching/Mentoring Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentorship, actively contributing to the academic development of trainees across all levels. They will foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that cultivates the next generation of scientific and clinical leaders in oncology.
Successful Candidate Qualifications
A medical degree or a terminal research degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
An actively funded research program in basic or translational research relevant to bladder and/or prostate cancers.
A record of scholarly achievement and a history of sustained funding at the level appropriate to the applicant’s seniority and professional experience.
Demonstrated potential for successfully teaching and mentoring students, trainees, and/or junior faculty.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills for work in an interdisciplinary department.
Qualifications for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank in the Department of Urology.
